Venezuela oil to be sent to US after raid

The United States is set to receive 30-50 million barrels of oil from Venezuela, according to President Donald Trump. The announcement comes after a US raid on Caracas and the kidnapping of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro. Trump stated that the oil would be sold at market price, with the proceeds to be controlled by the US government. The crude oil will be transported to the US by storage ships and unloaded at American docks, with the intention of benefiting both the Venezuelan and American people.

Venezuela, which holds the world’s largest proven oil reserves, has seen a significant decline in oil production in recent years due to Western sanctions. The country currently produces around 1.1 million barrels per day, down from its previous levels in the late 2010s. The US has been seeking to increase its access to Venezuela’s oil resources, with Trump demanding “total access” to the country’s oil and other assets.

The situation in Venezuela has been escalating, with US strikes in the country over the weekend and Maduro’s abduction to face trial in New York on drug trafficking charges. Trump has stated that the US will “run” Venezuela until a proper transition can take place. In response, Venezuelan acting President Delcy Rodriguez has vowed that her country will not become a colony of another empire, but has signaled openness to cooperation with the US.

The development has sparked interest from other countries, with Russian negotiator Kirill Dmitriev suggesting that the US could use Venezuelan oil to acquire Greenland. The US has previously expressed interest in purchasing the strategic island from Denmark. The situation in Venezuela remains complex, with the US seeking to expand its influence in the region and Venezuela seeking to maintain its sovereignty. The outcome of the current situation remains to be seen, with the US and Venezuela set to engage in further negotiations.
