President‑Elect Bola Tinubu received his Certificate of Return, but the Tinubu Support Organisation’s South‑East leader, George Agbakahi, claimed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) also has evidence of voter intimidation and suppression against its members during the February 25 presidential election. Speaking on Arise TV’s Morning Show on Monday, Agbakahi said no election is perfect anywhere in the world.
He pointed to specific states where APC voters were allegedly disenfranchised. “In Anambra State, Peter Obi received over 500,000 votes while the APC and the PDP each garnered less than 10,000,” he noted. “In Enugu State, Obi got about 490,000 votes and the APC only about 4,000.” The reported results show Obi winning Anambra with 584,621 votes; the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), the APC candidate Bola Tinubu, and the PDP each failed to reach 10,000 votes in any local government area. The closest rival was PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, who scored 9,036 votes, followed by APGA’s Prof. Peter Umeadi with 7,388 and the Young Progressive Congress with 1,997. In Enugu, Obi won with 11,339 votes, while the APC and PDP candidates received only 64 and 395 votes respectively.
When asked whether those states were rigged, the APC chieftain replied, “We have evidence of voter suppression and intimidation against APC members.” His comments come after the PDP and the Labour Party rejected the presidential election results, alleging rigging and voter intimidation. Agbakahi reiterated that no election is flawless, recalling former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s 2007 or 2003 remarks to foreign journalists in London that “there is no perfect election.” He concluded that the appropriate response is to examine all variables involved in the process.
