The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Borno State may take the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) to court over the results of the February 25 presidential and National Assembly elections. The APC won the presidential vote in the state, secured all three senatorial seats, and captured nine of the ten House of Representatives seats.
At a news conference in Maiduguri on Monday, Borno State PDP governorship candidate Mohammed Jajari claimed, “We have been robbed,” and announced that the party would challenge the results in court. He alleged that the February 25 election was marred by numerous irregularities, including inflated vote totals, altered result sheets, and the failure to use BVAS machines. Jajari said that PDP stakeholders and officials have been consulting on the legal challenge and urged party supporters to turn out in large numbers for the March 11 governorship and state assembly elections.
Borno State APC Chairman Ali Bukar Dalori responded to the PDP’s allegations, stating, “They are only complaining after failing to do their homework well to win the elections.” He added, “We are waiting for them to go to court with evidence.”
