Rivers APC Rejects PDP Crisis Infiltration

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining stability within the party, warning against attempts to import internal crises from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). According to the APC spokesperson, Darlington Nwuju, Governor Siminalayi Fubara remains the leader of the party in the state, and the APC will not tolerate any external interference that could destabilize the government or the party.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show, Nwuju emphasized that the APC will resist any effort to transfer the “spirit” of the PDP crisis into the ruling party. He attributed the current tensions in the state to events that occurred while key actors were still members of the PDP, dating back to October 2023. The APC spokesperson stressed that the party will not align with or pander to interests seeking to create instability, adding that Governor Fubara is not only a member of the party but its leader in Rivers State.

The APC’s stance comes amidst ongoing political tensions in the state, which Nwuju believes should not be allowed to affect the party. He stated that the APC will reject any attempt to destabilize the government or the party’s leadership, using “every legal means possible” to resist such attempts. By reaffirming its commitment to stability and leadership, the APC aims to prevent the importation of internal crises from the PDP and maintain a stable political environment in Rivers State.

The APC’s position is significant, given the state’s complex political landscape and the need for stability in governance. As the party navigates the current challenges, its ability to maintain cohesion and resist external interference will be crucial in determining the outcome of the ongoing political tensions. With the APC’s clear stance on the matter, the focus now shifts to how the party will implement its resolve to maintain stability and prevent the importation of internal crises from the PDP.
