PDP National Secretary Denies Exit Rumors

The National Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, has dismissed rumors of his impending departure from the party, describing the reports as “false, baseless, and unwarranted.” Anyanwu made this declaration during a New Year’s special stakeholders’ meeting at the party’s secretariat in Owerri, assuring members that he would remain in the PDP even if everyone else leaves.

The former federal lawmaker urged party members to be cautious of deception and misinformation, emphasizing that he remains committed to the PDP and will stay until its mandate is achieved. Anyanwu also expressed confidence in the party’s prospects, stating that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and All Progressives Party (APP) are unlikely to win elections in the state or nationally.

Anyanwu attributed the spread of false information about the PDP’s demise to “schizophrenia,” emphasizing that the party remains strong and vibrant. He highlighted the PDP’s commitment to its members, comparing it to the old Nigerian People’s Party (NPP), which prioritized human welfare. In contrast, he noted that members of the ruling party are struggling to make ends meet, while PDP members are thriving even in opposition.

The meeting, attended by 27 local government area chairmen, women leaders, youth leaders, and other stakeholders, provided an opportunity for Anyanwu to reward dedicated party members with gift items valued at a significant amount. He praised the party’s resilience in the face of internal challenges and external opposition, emphasizing the need for unity and collective effort to build a strong and formidable party in the state.

Anyanwu reassured party leaders and members that those opposing the PDP lack the capacity to dislodge the party in any contest, urging them to remain focused and undeterred by the “political shenanigans of unstable politicians.” With the party’s structure and dedication intact, Anyanwu expressed confidence in the PDP’s ability to overcome challenges and achieve its goals. The meeting served as a rallying point for party members, reaffirming their commitment to the PDP’s vision and mission.
