Ganduje Slams Kwankwaso Over Offensive Comments

Former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has expressed dissatisfaction with comments made by Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, describing them as unnecessary and offensive. According to Dr Baffa Babba Dan’agundi, Director-General of the National Productivity Centre, Ganduje personally conveyed his unhappiness with Kwankwaso’s remarks, which included referring to him as “maiyi,” meaning enemy, while addressing his supporters.

The comment was reportedly made as Kwankwaso accused Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf of planning to take over state institutions to use against political opponents. Ganduje believes such statements are unnecessary, especially at a time when Kano needs unity, peace, and collective progress. He thinks the anticipated return of Governor Yusuf to the All Progressives Congress (APC) should be an opportunity for reconciliation rather than heightened political tension.

Dan’agundi stated that Ganduje views the return of the Kano State Governor to the APC as a platform for all parties to come together, put aside differences, and focus on moving Kano State forward. Ganduje also feels that, given their age and long political careers, he and Kwankwaso should act as elder statesmen instead of continuing their political rivalry. He believes there should be no reason for continued conflict, as both have reached a stage where they no longer have personal political ambitions.

The reported plan by Governor Yusuf to rejoin the APC has been described as a welcome development for the party in Kano State. Dan’agundi said all APC leaders, stakeholders, and supporters in Kano State are happy and excited about the Governor’s return. Preparations to officially receive the governor into the APC are already underway at both national and state levels, although the process has slowed due to the Umrah trip of the Kano APC Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, and Ganduje’s absence from the country.

Once they return, a special meeting will be held with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and his delegation to conclude the process. The development is seen as a potential step towards lasting peace, progress, and development in Kano State. With the return of Governor Yusuf to the APC, there are hopes for increased unity and cooperation among political leaders in the state, which could have a positive impact on the state’s development and the well-being of its citizens.
