APC membership registration hits 2 million in one week

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that it has successfully registered over two million digitally verified members across Nigeria, just one week into its nationwide membership e-registration exercise. According to the party’s National Secretary, Sen. Ajibola Basiru, this milestone was achieved despite many states not having fully commenced the exercise. The registration process involves capturing members’ details, including their voter registration numbers, to create a comprehensive digital database.

The APC’s National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, recently met with state coordinators to discuss the exercise’s progress. Sen. Basiru emphasized the importance of this exercise, stating that it is crucial to building a strong party foundation. He expressed optimism that the party’s digital membership strength could reach eight to nine million by the next assessment, expected next week. To achieve this goal, Sen. Basiru urged party stakeholders at the state and grassroots levels to take the e-registration exercise seriously, as it is essential for creating a cohesive and organic party structure.

The e-registration exercise was mandated by the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) in December 2025, with a deadline of January 2026 for all members to be digitally registered. This initiative aims to strengthen the party’s internal organization and operational efficiency. The party’s NEC has directed that all members must be digitally registered to ensure effective management and mobilization. The APC’s working committee is closely monitoring the exercise across states, and state coordinators who fail to perform diligently will be replaced.

The APC’s commitment to this exercise demonstrates its focus on building a robust party structure, capable of mobilizing support for President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The party has commended governors, state chairmen, and other stakeholders for their resources and commitment to the exercise. While some challenges have been identified, the party is addressing them through continuous engagement with relevant stakeholders. As the exercise continues, the APC is poised to enhance its internal organization, operational efficiency, and membership strength, ultimately strengthening its position in Nigerian politics.
