A Lagos State resident, Jennifer Efidi, was attacked by thugs at the Nuru/Oniwo Ward, Polling Unit 065, in Surulere while waiting to vote on Saturday, February 25. She said that when she left home that day, she never imagined she would return “defaced” as she did.
Efidi recounted that, while waiting in line to vote, she noticed a group of “strange‑looking boys” observing her and other voters before walking down the street. As she continued to wait, pressing her phone, she suddenly felt a “huge impact” on her face and heard a gunshot, causing people to flee in panic.
When she touched her face, blood was dripping onto her hand. Despite the shock, she managed to stand up and cry for help. A courageous bystander then held her, applied pressure to the wound, and tried to stabilize her condition.
