The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has commenced its membership e-registration exercise, with the state chairman, Benjamin Omale, emphasizing the importance of massive participation in the process. Omale made the remarks during the flag-off ceremony in his hometown in Ohimini Local Government Area, stating that the exercise will create opportunities and strengthen the party.
According to Omale, the e-registration exercise is crucial for the party’s internal democracy, electoral victory, and political strength. He urged all party members to remain loyal and steadfast, warning that ignoring the exercise would weaken the party at both state and federal levels. “In today’s political environment, data is power. A party that does not know its members cannot protect them, mobilize them, or defend their votes,” he said.
The e-registration exercise aims to create a verified and credible digital membership register, which will determine who votes in party primaries, who is recognized as a member, and who qualifies for appointments. Omale emphasized that only registered members will be considered for party activities, stating, “If your name is not in the APC e-registration database, you are politically invisible.”
The exercise will also determine who chooses the party’s candidates, who represents the APC at every level, and who benefits from the party’s governance. Omale noted that the Executive Governor of Benue State has given the exercise full support, recognizing the need for a strong APC built on a credible membership structure.
The state chairman called on all stakeholders, including ward chairmen, local government chairmen, party leaders, and elected officials, to take ownership of the exercise and mobilize their people to register. He emphasized that controlling the membership is crucial to controlling the party’s future, adding that this control must belong to the APC faithful, not outsiders or opportunists.
The successful completion of the e-registration exercise is expected to strengthen the APC in Benue State and position it for future electoral success. With the governor’s support and the commitment of party stakeholders, the exercise is set to have a significant impact on the party’s internal democracy and political strength.
