Mercy Johnson slammed over Tiktok creator arrest

A Nigerian social media critic, Verydarkman, has spoken out against actress Mercy Johnson regarding the arrest of TikTok content creator, Eedie Bliss. The arrest was made in connection with a post by Eedie Bliss that shared unverified information about Mercy Johnson’s family.

In December 2025, rumors circulated that Mercy Johnson’s husband, Prince Henry Okojie, had purchased a mansion for a woman who was allegedly pregnant with his child outside of their marriage. Eedie Bliss, citing Cutie Juls as her source, claimed that Mercy Johnson had conspired with the pregnant woman’s house help to cause a miscarriage.

Following a petition by Prince Henry Okojie, Eedie Bliss was detained in Abuja. The incident has sparked controversy online, with many criticizing Mercy Johnson for the arrest and questioning why the original source of the information was not targeted.

Verydarkman has condemned the detention, pointing out that defamation is a civil matter. He noted that Mercy Johnson had previously spoken out against the arrest of Regina Daniels’ brother, Sammy, on similar charges by Senator Ned Nwoko. Verydarkman argued that Mercy Johnson should sue Eedie Bliss in court rather than using law enforcement to silence her.

The critic also highlighted that Eedie Bliss had cited a specific source for her information, which distinguishes her case from others. With Eedie Bliss’ wedding scheduled for Saturday, Verydarkman threatened to involve his legal team if she is not released promptly.

The incident raises questions about the use of law enforcement in cases of alleged defamation and the importance of protecting freedom of expression. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how Mercy Johnson and her husband will proceed, and whether Eedie Bliss will be released in time for her wedding. The case has sparked a wider conversation about the balance between protecting one’s reputation and respecting the right to free speech.
