President Bola Tinubu has given his approval for the posting of four ambassador-designates to various countries, following their confirmation by the Senate in December. This development was announced in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
The approved ambassador-designates include Ayodele Oke, who will serve as the ambassador to France, and Colonel Lateef Are, who has been posted to the United States of America as the ambassador-designate. Additionally, Ambassador Amin Dalhatu, formerly the ambassador to South Korea, has been appointed as the high commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom. Mr. Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman, the former governor of Kebbi, will take up the role of ambassador-designate to Turkey, a country that President Tinubu is scheduled to visit on a state trip next week.
In line with standard diplomatic protocols, President Tinubu has instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to notify the governments of the respective countries about the postings of the ambassador-designates. This move marks a significant step in strengthening diplomatic relations between Nigeria and these countries.
The approval of these ambassador-designates is part of the ongoing efforts to fill key diplomatic positions, following the Senate’s confirmation of 68 nominees in December. The development is expected to enhance Nigeria’s presence on the global stage and facilitate cooperation with other nations.
