Somalia forces defeat Al-Shabaab in southern region

Mogadishu — Former Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has commended the Jubbaland regional forces and the elite Danab commando unit for their successful operation against Al-Shabaab militants in southern Somalia. The operation, which took place in the Kudhaa area of Badhaadhe district in the Lower Juba region, resulted in the defeat of the Islamist group.

In a statement, Roble praised the forces for their victory, extending his congratulations and appreciation to the Jubbaland forces and the Danab unit. He also offered condolences to the families of soldiers who lost their lives during the fighting, praying for mercy for the deceased and a swift recovery for the wounded.

The former prime minister expressed solidarity with the people of Jubbaland, stating that he stands with them in their fight against Al-Shabaab. Roble emphasized the importance of unity, coordination among security institutions, and public support in efforts to eradicate the militant group. He noted that such cooperation is essential to achieving lasting peace and stability across Somalia.

Al-Shabaab has been waging a long-running insurgency against the Somali government and its allies, carrying out frequent attacks despite sustained military pressure in several regions of the country. The group’s activities have resulted in significant instability and insecurity in Somalia, making it a major concern for the government and international community.

The successful operation by the Jubbaland forces and the Danab unit is a significant development in the fight against Al-Shabaab. It demonstrates the capacity of Somali security forces to effectively counter the militant group and secure key areas. The operation also highlights the importance of collaboration between different security institutions and the need for continued support from the public in the fight against terrorism.

The Somali government has been working to strengthen its security institutions and improve coordination among different forces to effectively counter Al-Shabaab. The international community has also been providing support to the government, including military training and equipment, to help build the capacity of Somali security forces. As the fight against Al-Shabaab continues, the importance of unity, coordination, and public support will remain crucial in achieving lasting peace and stability in Somalia.
