Scholes doubts Declan Rice as Arsenals best player

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has expressed his views on Arsenal’s performance this season, stating that Declan Rice has not been the team’s standout player. Despite Rice’s impressive form, Scholes believes that other players, such as Jurrien Timber, have made a more significant impact for the Premier League leaders.

Arsenal currently holds a four-point lead over Manchester City, and a win against Manchester United on Sunday would increase their advantage to seven points. Scholes, who won 11 Premier League titles with Manchester United, thinks that Martin Zubimendi has been equally important in Arsenal’s midfield, and that the team’s defenders have been instrumental in their success.

In a recent interview on The Overlap’s fan debate, Scholes said, “Has Declan Rice been that special this year? I really like him, but right now I don’t see him as the best player in the league. I believe the defenders have had a bigger impact than Declan Rice.” He specifically highlighted Timber’s performance, describing him as “unbelievable” and “brilliant.”

Scholes’ comments come as Arsenal prepares to face Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. A win would not only maintain their lead but also demonstrate the team’s strength and resilience. With the Premier League title race intensifying, Arsenal’s upcoming matches will be crucial in determining their chances of winning the championship.

The match against Manchester United will be a significant test for Arsenal, and the outcome will have implications for the team’s position in the league. As the season progresses, Arsenal’s players will be under increasing pressure to perform, and their ability to work together as a team will be essential to their success. The Premier League leaders will be looking to build on their current momentum and secure a win against Manchester United to strengthen their position at the top of the table.
