Benue APC Targets 1 Million Votes for Tinubu in 2027

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has announced plans to secure an additional one million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections. This goal is part of the party’s strategy to strengthen its position in the state. According to Philip Agbese, a member of the House of Representatives and spokesperson for the Benue APC caucus, the party is leveraging the political machinery of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume-led bloc.

The APC is currently conducting an electronic registration and revalidation drive, which Agbese believes will significantly boost the party’s numerical strength in the state. He noted that the Akume group alone has over half a million verified members who will be captured in the exercise, which will increase APC membership in Benue by at least 500,000. Agbese expressed confidence that the party will achieve its target of securing an extra one million votes for President Tinubu in the next election cycle.

In comparison, Agbese stated that opposition parties have only managed about 30,000 registrations in the past month, while the APC is making significant strides in mobilizing its members. He attributed this to the party’s strong presence on the ground and the understanding of the stakes among its members. Agbese called on party members across the 23 local government areas of Benue to support the exercise, emphasizing the importance of unity and commitment at this stage.

The lawmaker also praised President Tinubu, describing him as a “towering giant in African leadership” whose experience and vision are transforming Nigeria and inspiring the continent. He reaffirmed the party’s ambition to increase Tinubu’s votes by another one million from Benue State alone, citing the trust that the people have in his leadership.

The APC’s efforts in Benue State are part of a broader strategy to consolidate its position ahead of the 2027 general elections. With the party’s electronic registration and revalidation drive underway, it remains to be seen how the opposition parties will respond to the APC’s mobilization efforts. As the political landscape in Nigeria continues to evolve, the outcome of the 2027 elections will be closely watched by observers both within and outside the country.
