The All Progressives Congress (APC) has welcomed back Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, with the party’s former national chairman, Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, stating that all gubernatorial aspirants have agreed to step aside in favor of the governor. This development comes as Governor Yusuf returns to the APC, the party he initially belonged to before joining the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
During a formal reception, Ganduje expressed confidence that Governor Yusuf will win the 2027 election with a landslide, citing the unanimous decision of other aspirants to withdraw from the race. Ganduje emphasized the significance of the occasion, describing it as a memorable moment for the APC leadership. He acknowledged the governor’s progressive stance, evident in his policies and their implementation, and recognized him as the leader of the party in Kano State.
Ganduje’s statement aims to put to rest speculation and disagreements over the party’s leadership in Kano, affirming Governor Yusuf’s position as the party’s leader in the state. The former chairman also praised President Tinubu, describing him as a true Nigerian and politician who treats citizens equally, regardless of their religion or ethnicity. This, Ganduje believes, will contribute to Governor Yusuf’s success in the 2027 election.
Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, commended Governor Yusuf’s decision to rejoin the APC, characterizing it as a lasting one. The move is seen as a significant development in the state’s political landscape, with potential implications for the 2027 elections. As the APC continues to consolidate its position in Kano State, the return of Governor Yusuf is expected to bolster the party’s chances in future polls. With the governor’s reputation as a progressive politician and the APC’s renewed unity, the stage is set for an interesting political landscape in the years to come.
