Concerned Ndigbo Lagos endorsed the re‑election of Governor Babajide Sanwo‑Olu for a second term on Monday. The group urged all state residents to evaluate each governorship candidate’s experience and record, describing Sanwo‑Olu as the most experienced among them.
At a press conference, the group’s coordinator, Chibunna Ubawuike, together with patron Igwe Ikechukwu Ojede and secretary Ozoemena Nliam, argued that Sanwo‑Olu’s re‑election would serve the interests of the Igbo community in Lagos. Ubawuike emphasized that Sanwo‑Olu’s administration has governed without discriminating against any tribe, creating an enabling environment for businesses and for other ethnic groups to thrive in Lagos and beyond. He said, “Governor Sanwo‑Olu has achieved tremendous, integrated development across various sectors, turning Lagos into a construction hub with massive infrastructural gains that have attracted investment and fostered cordial relations with the Igbo, hence the need to vote for him.”
Patron Igwe Ojebe added that Sanwo‑Olu is an honest leader who can elevate Lagos to a higher level of success, improving the quality of life for residents. Secretary Ozoemena Nliam, who benefited from the state’s free WAEC payment while in school and married a Yoruba woman in Lagos, appealed to his fellow Igbo to vote en masse on Saturday to re‑elect the governor. He noted, “Lagos is a cosmopolitan state that accommodates all tribes. The upcoming March 11 elections are a different ball game; we must all think carefully. The President‑Elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the modern‑day leader and architect of Lagos, has done much for the state. Lagos’ patterns favor everyone who lives here and respects the law. Governor Sanwo‑Olu’s second term will benefit the Igbo, as he has already performed well and will continue the legacy of Asiwaju.”
