The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State has welcomed a former four-term House of Representatives member, Kabiru Marafa, back into the party. Marafa, who represented Wurno/Rabah Federal Constituency from 2003 to 2019, was received by the APC Chairman in Sokoto State, Isah Sadiq-Achida, alongside hundreds of his supporters. The event also saw the attendance of two former Chairmen of Wurno Local Government Area.
Sadiq-Achida expressed confidence that the APC would secure 90 percent of votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election in Sokoto State. He attributed this optimism to the significant progress made by the administration of Governor Ahmed Aliyu over the past two years, which has transformed the state in various areas. The APC chairman described Marafa’s return as a significant milestone in the party’s journey towards the 2027 polls.
Marafa’s defection to the APC was seen as a “return home” by the former lawmaker, who urged his supporters to join the party and register at their respective ward levels. He assured them of his commitment to work collectively for the party’s success and the emergence of credible leadership. The former House of Representatives member thanked the party leadership for accepting him back and pledged his loyalty and dedication to the APC’s success in future elections.
The APC chairman welcomed all defectors to the party, assuring them of equal treatment and opportunities. Sadiq-Achida described Marafa as a committed leader who prioritizes the interest of his people, and his return did not come as a surprise. The development is expected to boost the party’s chances in the 2027 general election, with the APC aiming to build on the progress made in Sokoto State under Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s administration.
The APC’s efforts to strengthen its presence in Sokoto State are part of the party’s broader strategy to consolidate its position ahead of the 2027 polls. With Marafa’s return, the party is poised to leverage his experience and influence to mobilize support and deliver a significant proportion of votes for President Tinubu in the upcoming election. As the political landscape continues to evolve, the APC’s ability to attract high-profile defectors like Marafa is likely to be a key factor in determining its success in the 2027 general election.
