APC Denies Notorious Bandit Leader Membership

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed a purported membership slip featuring notorious bandit leader, Mohammed Bello Turji, as a fabrication. According to the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the slip is fake and has no connection to the APC’s membership register or database.

The APC stated that its attention was drawn to the fake membership slip circulating on social media, which falsely suggests that Turji was registered as a member of the party during the ongoing Electronic Registration and Validation Exercise. The party emphasized that the slip is entirely fabricated, with all digital parameters bearing no connection to its membership register.

Specifically, the slip claims to be registered in a non-existent “Ward 13” of Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, which only has 10 wards. The APC noted that all other information on the fake slip is also non-existent and not contained in its membership database.

The party attributed the fabrication to mischief makers seeking to deceive and confuse the public for their own sinister objectives. The APC urged its members and the general public to disregard the document in its entirety, describing it as highly offensive.

The incident highlights the need for vigilance in verifying information, particularly on social media, where false information can spread quickly. The APC’s electronic registration exercise is part of its efforts to strengthen its membership and internal processes. The party has been working to improve its systems and ensure the integrity of its membership data.

In this context, the APC’s swift response to the fake membership slip demonstrates its commitment to transparency and accountability. By dismissing the fabrication and providing context, the party aims to maintain public trust and confidence in its membership processes. As the APC continues to navigate the complexities of its registration exercise, it remains essential for the party to prioritize the accuracy and security of its membership data.
