Vice President Welcomes Plateau Governor to APC

Vice President Kashim Shettima has officially welcomed Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State into the All Progressives Congress (APC), commending his leadership and commitment to the welfare of the people. This development comes after Mutfwang’s recent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) due to internal leadership disputes.

At the welcome ceremony in Jos, Shettima highlighted Mutfwang’s achievements, including his efforts to build peace across communities, invest in renewable energy projects, and improve agricultural initiatives and transport networks. He noted that Mutfwang’s leadership has been focused on serving the people, as evident in his budgets that prioritize peace, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment.

Shettima assured Mutfwang of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s support, stating that the APC is proud to have him on board. He emphasized the party’s inclusive nature, saying that the APC is a destination for those who believe in a united future. The Vice President also urged Plateau residents to prioritize unity, emphasizing that their shared interests supersede their differences.

In addition, Shettima announced plans to commence the construction of the Akwanga-Jos Road, with work expected to begin within the next three weeks. Senate President Godswill Akpabio and other party stakeholders also welcomed Mutfwang, expressing optimism that his defection would bring peace, progress, and prosperity to Plateau State.

Governor Mutfwang expressed gratitude to President Tinubu, Vice President Shettima, and other party leaders for accepting him into the APC. He clarified that his decision to join the party was not to take over the party structure but to add value and work collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure the success of the APC and President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

The APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, and other party leaders also welcomed Mutfwang, expressing confidence that his defection would translate into rapid development for Plateau State and electoral support for President Tinubu in 2027. The Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodinma, said the Forum was delighted to welcome Governor Mutfwang, who is expected to add value to the Forum and the party.
