The Nigerian Presidency has confirmed that President Bola Tinubu is in good health and proceeding with his scheduled state visit to Turkiye as planned. This update was shared by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, via his official social media handle. According to Dare, following a ceremonial reception in Ankara, President Tinubu engaged in bilateral meetings with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and other senior government officials.
These meetings are focused on strengthening diplomatic relations and cooperation in key sectors, including defense, trade, investment, energy, and broader economic development. The successful progression of the visit highlights the growing ties between Nigeria and Turkiye, as well as Nigeria’s renewed diplomatic efforts under President Tinubu’s leadership.
Meanwhile, the Presidential Spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, addressed inquiries regarding the President’s well-being in Ankara. Onanuga explained that the President had momentarily lost his balance after stepping on a metal object on the floor. Describing the incident as minor, Onanuga emphasized that it was not significant, except for those attempting to create unnecessary attention around it. He clarified that the President had only stumbled and did not fall, thanking God for the outcome.
The Presidency has urged the public to disregard any attempts to sensationalize the minor incident, reiterating that President Tinubu remains fit and fully engaged in his activities. The visit to Turkiye is part of Nigeria’s effort to expand its diplomatic and economic ties with other nations, and the successful meetings between the two leaders are expected to yield positive outcomes for both countries. As President Tinubu continues his visit, focus will be on the concrete agreements and collaborations that emerge from these discussions, further solidifying the relationship between Nigeria and Turkiye.
