The All Progressives Congress (APC) has commenced the sale of expression of interest forms for aspirants seeking the party’s nomination for the 2027 general elections, the party announced via its official X handle on Tuesday.
The statement details a revised fee structure aimed at encouraging participation from specific demographics. Female aspirants, youths, and individuals with disabilities are required to pay only for the expression of interest form and 50 per cent of the standard nomination fee for any position they seek. All other aspirants must pay the full prescribed fees. All payments must be made directly into designated APC bank accounts.
Regarding the internal selection process, the party affirmed that the existing zoning arrangement for National Working Committee (NWC) positions across geopolitical zones remains in effect. State and senatorial executives’ congresses will be held concurrently with state congresses.
The statement also specified that four jurisdictions—Ekiti, Osun, Rivers states, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)—will not participate in the upcoming ward, local government, and state-level congresses. However, these areas will elect three delegates each to the national convention.
The application process will be conducted entirely online. Access to both the expression of interest and nomination forms will be granted only after payment verification and validation by the National Secretariat.
This move formalizes the APC’s early start to its 2027 election preparations. The implementation of reduced fees for women, youths, and persons with disabilities reflects a common strategy among Nigerian parties to promote inclusive participation. The concurrent scheduling of state and senatorial congresses aims to streamline the delegate selection process. The exclusion of the four named states from lower-level congresses, while allowing them delegate representation at the national level, suggests a distinct arrangement for those particular party structures. Aspirants are advised to complete online applications promptly following payment, with all transactions directed to official APC accounts to avoid fraud. The successful conclusion of these state-level exercises will set the stage for the national convention where presidential and other key standard-bearers are ultimately selected.
