Nollywood Actor Timini Egbuson: Money Not Everything in Love

Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson has revised his perspective on what constitutes a fulfilling romantic relationship, moving away from a former emphasis on financial security toward a broader view that prioritises personal compatibility and values.

In a recent interview with Jay On-Air TV, the 38-year-old star reflected on his evolving mindset. He acknowledged that in earlier years, he considered financial stability to be the paramount factor in a partnership. However, he stated that maturity and life experience have reshaped this belief.

While affirming that financial resources remain a practical necessity, Egbuson argued that wealth alone is insufficient for a meaningful connection. He stressed that sustainable relationships require a combination of elements, including personality, character, and shared core values. The actor contended that an individual who contributes only money to a relationship offers a limited and superficial foundation.

“I still think money is important, but what I realise now is that money is just one out of many things that matter,” Egbuson said. “If all you can bring to a relationship is money, then you’re a very shallow man.”

This public reflection contributes to ongoing dialogues within Nigerian popular culture about the dynamics of modern relationships. As a prominent figure in Africa’s largest film industry, Egbuson’s commentary highlights a shift among some public figures towards advocating for emotional intelligence and mutual respect over transactional approaches to romance. His comments suggest a growing recognition that long-term compatibility hinges on factors beyond economic provision, underscoring a more holistic view of partnership that resonates with broader societal conversations about love and commitment.
