Nigeria Group Denies Leader Named in U.S. Religious Freedom Bill
A Nigerian political movement has strongly rejected allegations that its leader, former senator and presidential candidate Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is responsible for severe religious freedom violations, as cited in a proposed U.S. congressional bill.
The Kwankwasiyya Movement issued a statement calling the claims “unfounded, misleading, and inconsistent with the verifiable public record” of Senator Kwankwaso. The U.S. bill, the Nigeria Religious Freedom and Accountability Act 2026 (HR 7457), reportedly references Kwankwaso’s name in connection with alleged violations.
