The Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the comprehensive renovation of all government hospitals across the state, emphasizing the goal of an effective healthcare delivery system. Speaking during an unscheduled visit to the General Hospital in Ilawe‑Ekiti, he expressed dissatisfaction with the facility’s current condition. To improve services, he personally donated a 7.5 kVA generator and assured that the hospital would receive a facelift in the next phase of the state’s hospital renovation program.
Governor Oyebanji praised the hospital staff for their perseverance, commitment, and dedication despite working in dilapidated facilities. “I don’t want you to be discouraged or to despair because you are dealing with lives,” he said. “You may not like this situation, but it would be worse if you were not here. I want you to be encouraged, and as a government we will support you.” He added that he would engage prominent indigenes of the town to help improve the facility.
Addressing local residents, the governor promised to revisit the road linking Ilawe‑Ekiti to Ikere‑Ekiti, noting that his government had begun mobilising contractors to commence work on the project. He also assured the state’s youths that new empowerment programmes would soon be inaugurated.
In another unscheduled stop, Governor Oyebanji visited the Technical College in Igbara Odo to inspect ongoing renovations. He highlighted his administration’s plan to boost vocational education and make it an attractive pathway to entrepreneurship. He appealed to prominent indigenes to contribute their share toward the well‑being of government facilities in their localities.
