Uzodinma Advocates Harmony for APC Success in Imo Congresses

Imo Governor Urges APC Unity Ahead of State Congresses

Owerri, Imo State—Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma has urged internal cohesion among All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders as the party prepares for its nationwide Ward and Local Government Area (LGA) congresses. The governor addressed party leaders and members at the Sam Mbakwe Executive Chambers, Government House, Owerri, emphasizing that the upcoming grassroots elections are critical for the party’s future electoral success.

Governor Uzodinma stressed that harmony and discipline within the party are essential for sustaining victory in future contests. He called for peaceful resolution of any differences among contenders and advocated for inclusive leadership, stating that all party voices must be considered in decision-making processes. “APC is a family bound by a common vision for development,” he said. “I urge adherence to dialogue to resolve disagreements. The strength of the party lies in unity.”

The governor acknowledged the efforts of APC leaders and grassroots mobilizers in expanding the party’s reach, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to state development and security—factors he linked to improving the party’s electoral prospects.

State APC Chairman MacDonald Ebere, in his address, thanked Governor Uzodinma for creating an enabling environment for the party. He recognized members’ contributions to the ongoing electronic registration (e-registration) exercise and urged continued zeal for a peaceful congress. Ebere’s remarks highlighted the importance of updated membership data for the congresses.

Godwin Anawore, Chairman of the Committee overseeing the Ward and LGA congresses, underscored the significance of the exercise. “The future of the party is bright,” he said, commending Governor Uzodinma for his efforts in maintaining party unity. Anawore described the congresses as vital for APC’s organizational strength and electoral preparation.

The ward and LGA congresses will elect new local party executives across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. These foundational elections are a key step in the APC’s internal democratic process, setting the stage for subsequent state and national conventions. The outcome will influence the party’s structure, leadership, and strategy ahead of future general elections.

Governor Uzodinma’s meeting reflects a broader push by the APC to ensure orderly, consensus-driven congresses that minimize internal friction. His focus on unity and inclusivity aligns with the party’s national efforts to project stability and readiness for the next electoral cycle. The congresses are scheduled to commence nationwide in the coming weeks, with results expected to shape the APC’s grassroots organizational capacity in Imo State and beyond.
