Super Falcons Squad for Cameroon Friendlies Without Oshoala

Nigeria’s Super Falcons head coach Justine Madugu has announced a 25-player squad for two upcoming friendly matches against Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses. The fixtures are part of the team’s preparations for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2026 finals.

Star forward and multiple award winner Asisat Oshoala is the most prominent omission from the roster. Captain Rasheedat Ajibade, first-choice goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, and key players including defender Ashleigh Plumptre, Michelle Alozie, and midfielder Esther Okoronkwo are among the regulars selected. The squad also features experienced defender Osinachi Ohale, Halimat Ayinde, and Deborah Abiodun.

The double-header will be played in Yaoundé, Cameroon. The first friendly is scheduled for next Saturday, with the second match set for Tuesday, 3 March. These games provide crucial preparation ahead of Nigeria’s WAFCON 2026 campaign.

Nigeria secured its place in the finals and was drawn into Group C alongside Malawi, Zambia, and Egypt. The tournament serves as a key stage for African teams, with the top finishers qualifying for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The full 25-player squad is listed below by position:

Goalkeepers: Chiamaka Nnadozie, Comfort Erhabor, Anderline Mgbechi, Fatima Oloko
Defenders: Osinachi Ohale, Michelle Alozie, Oluwatotosin Demehin, Ashleigh Plumptre, Shukurat Oladipo, Glory Ogbonna, Sikiratu Isah, Chidinma Okeke, Christy Ucheibe
Midfielders: Halimat Ayinde, Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene, Jennifer Echegini, Deborah Abiodun, Precious Christopher
Forwards: Rasheedat Ajibade, Gift Monday, Chinwendu Ihezuo, Ijeoma Okoronkwo, Omorinsola Babajide, Folashade Ijamilusi, Joy Ogochukwu Omeha

The friendlies against Cameroon offer the Super Falcons an opportunity to test tactical combinations and assess squad depth ahead of their Group C opener at WAFCON 2026. The matches in Yaoundé will be the team’s first official outings under Madugu’s tenure in a competitive setting.
