Morocco football team prepares for friendlies ahead of AFCON

Morocco’s national football team completed its final training session on Wednesday ahead of two friendly matches against Mozambique and Uganda in Tangier. The team, which will host the Africa Cup of Nations, is utilizing the November FIFA international window to fine-tune its squad. Coach Walid Regragui and his staff focused on building cohesion among players and implementing tactical plans for the upcoming games.

The Atlas Lions are set to face Mozambique on Friday and Uganda on November 18, with both matches taking place at the Grand Stade de Tanger. However, several key players will be absent due to injury, including international star Achraf Hakimi, who suffered a serious injury during a UEFA Champions League match with Paris Saint-Germain. Defender Nayef Aguerd will also be sidelined after being injured while playing for Olympique de Marseille.

The friendlies are part of Morocco’s preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations, which kicks off on December 21 and concludes on January 18. Coach Regragui emphasized the country’s commitment to hosting a successful tournament, stating that Morocco plans to showcase its high level of organization and hospitality. The team’s performance in the friendlies will be closely watched, as it looks to build momentum ahead of the continental competition.
