PDP’s Tim Nyor Resigns, Endorses Alia’s Benue Renaissance

Tim Nyor Resigns from PDP, Cites Party’s Path to “Self-Destruction”
By Media Talk Africa

Benue State’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Publicity Secretary, Tim Nyor, has resigned from his position and withdrawn his membership from the party with immediate effect.

Nyor announced the decision in a formal statement, stating it followed deep reflection on his inability to continue functioning within a party system he believes is “headed towards self-destruction.” He asserted that loyalty must not equate to complicity and that commitment should not require the surrender of one’s conscience.

His resignation comes shortly after the PDP suspended him over allegations of gross violation of party principles, insubordination, and anti-party activities.

In his statement, Nyor declared his alignment with what he termed a “genuine developmental path” for Benue State, expressing support for the reform-driven administration of Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia. He characterised the governor’s initiatives as a “Benue Renaissance.”

Nyor emphasised that safeguarding his dignity, conscience, and mental well-being now takes precedence over partisan affiliation. While thanking the PDP for opportunities and relationships formed over the years, he confirmed his decision is final.

The departure of a key state party official underscores ongoing internal tensions within the Benue PDP. Nyor’s public criticism of the party’s direction and his immediate pivot to support the state’s APC-led administration signal a significant political realignment ahead of future electoral cycles in the North Central region. His move highlights the persistent challenge of internal cohesion facing opposition parties in the state.
