Benue APC Congresses Record Peaceful Conduct, High Turnout

The Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended the peaceful and orderly conduct of its local government non-elective congresses, held across the state on Saturday, February 21, 2026. The party’s publicity secretary, Daniel Ihomun, released a statement describing the process as transparent and impressive in its turnout, reflecting strong internal discipline and organisational capacity.

According to the statement, the massive participation of party members during the congresses underscores sustained confidence in the state leadership and the party’s ideals. The exercises resulted in the reaffirmation of existing local government party executives for another four-year tenure. Ihomun stated that this reaffirmation constitutes a clear endorsement of the executives’ stewardship and the trust placed in them by members. He urged the renewed executives to maintain inclusive, transparent, and constitutionally compliant leadership to further strengthen the party’s grassroots structures.

The successful conclusion of both the preceding ward and the local government congresses positions the Benue State APC as a united and focused chapter, the statement added. The party asserted it is now well-prepared to consolidate its organisational frameworks and intensify mobilisation efforts. A primary objective is to secure victory for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, with the state viewed as strategically significant.

Ihomun further avowed the party’s unwavering commitment to internal democracy, unity, and the advancement of its political objectives within Benue State and nationally. The seamless conduct of these internal polls is presented as evidence of the chapter’s readiness for future electoral contests, following a standard procedure for refreshing party leadership at the sub-state level ahead of the next election cycle.
