ADC Factional Chairman Calls David Mark’s Convention Illegal

Factional National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Nafiu Bala, has declared the national convention held under the leadership of former Senate President David Mark as illegal. Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Friday, Bala dismissed the event, asserting that the coalition groups involved are not recognized members of the party.

Bala emphasized that the convention, convened by the Mark-led faction, lacks legal standing and any decisions arising from it are invalid. He reiterated that the party’s duly constituted and legitimate leadership does not acknowledge the gathering or its outcomes.

The ADC has been embroiled in internal disputes over its leadership, with rival factions holding separate conventions to assert control. This latest development underscores the ongoing crisis within the party, which could impact its political standing and cohesion ahead of future elections.

The faction led by Bala has called on party members and the public to disregard the Mark-led convention, warning that any actions taken by the group are legally void. The party’s leadership remains committed to resolving the internal conflict through legal and constitutional means.

As the dispute continues, observers are closely watching how the ADC navigates this leadership crisis and its implications for the party’s future.
