The Ondo State High Court has announced the death of Justice Bamidele Adeyeye, a respected jurist who served as the presiding judge of High Court 5 in Akure. Justice Adeyeye passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026.
The news was conveyed in a formal statement issued on Friday in Akure by Mr. Ayodeji Akinsanya, the Chief Registrar of the Ondo State High Court. The statement expressed profound grief on behalf of the judiciary, describing Justice Adeyeye as a distinguished and serving judge whose career was defined by integrity, wisdom, and a steadfast dedication to justice.
Justice Adeyeye was widely regarded as a symbol of fairness and the rule of law throughout his tenure on the bench. Colleagues, legal practitioners, and the public held him in high esteem for his humility, deep legal knowledge, and impartiality in adjudicating cases. His service was characterised by a firm commitment to equity, contributing significantly to the growth of the judicial system in Ondo State.
Appointed to the Ondo State High Court on September 8, 2011, Justice Adeyeye brought extensive experience to the bench. Prior to his elevation, he founded the law firm Fola Adeyeye & Co. in Okitipupa, Okitipupa Local Government Area. Born on January 16, 1961, he dedicated over a decade to judicial service in the state.
The judiciary emphasised that Justice Adeyeye’s demise represents a substantial loss not only to the Ondo State Judiciary but also to the people of Ondo State and Nigeria’s broader legal community. His contributions to the advancement of justice are expected to leave a lasting legacy.
On behalf of all judges, magistrates, and staff, the Ondo State Judiciary extended heartfelt condolences to Justice Adeyeye’s family, praying for divine strength to bear their loss and for the peaceful repose of his soul.
