Kano Police Investigate NSCDC Officer’s Death by Hoodlums

Kano State Police have opened an investigation into the fatal attack on a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officer during an empowerment event in Tudun Wada Local Government Area.

The incident occurred on March 13, 2026, when the officer was assaulted by a group of suspected hoodlums. The Kano State Police Command confirmed the death in a statement released by its Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, on Saturday.

According to police, the injured officer was transported to Tudun Wada General Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed him dead. His body has been deposited at the morgue of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for further examination.

The Commissioner of Police in Kano, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has directed a comprehensive and discreet investigation into the killing. Police stated that this inquiry is being conducted in collaboration with other security agencies to identify, track down, and apprehend the perpetrators.

“The State Commissioner of Police has assured the public that no stone will be left unturned in ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to justice,” the police spokesperson said.

The command has also formally offered its condolences to the deceased officer’s family and the leadership of the NSCDC. As part of the ongoing investigation, authorities have appealed to the public to come forward with any credible information that could assist in resolving the case.

The NSCDC, a paramilitary agency, is primarily tasked with protecting critical national infrastructure and maintaining internal security. Attacks on its personnel during public functions underscore ongoing security challenges in parts of Nigeria. Police affirm that resolving this case is a priority to deter similar violence and uphold the rule of law.
