Eid-el-Fitr 2026 Delta State Police Security Deployment

Delta State Police Command has initiated a comprehensive security operation aimed at guaranteeing peaceful Eid-el-Fitr celebrations across the state on March 19 and 20, 2026. The directive, issued by State Police Commissioner Aina Adesola, involves a strategic deployment of personnel and resources to all prayer grounds and key locations.

According to a statement from Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe, the command has mobilised a robust operational force. This deployment combines conventional police officers, tactical units, and other operational assets. The primary objective is to safeguard lives and property, ensure the free flow of traffic, and provide a secure environment for the Muslim faithful and all residents during the festive period.

Commissioner Adesola assured the public of the command’s readiness, stating that adequate measures have been emplaced. He issued a stern warning to criminal elements, including cultists and mischief-makers, to refrain from any unlawful acts. The command emphasised it is fully prepared to deal decisively with any threat to public peace and order.

Operationally, Divisional Police Officers, Area Commanders, and Tactical Commanders have been directed to intensify intelligence-led raids on identified criminal hideouts and black spots. The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations has been tasked with ensuring effective coordination and supervision of all deployments. This structure is designed to maintain security and stability before, during, and after the celebrations.

The police command has also urged members of the public to remain law-abiding and vigilant. Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station, highlighting the importance of community partnership in sustaining public safety during the high-traffic festive season.

This security framework underscores the police’s commitment to facilitating the safe observance of Eid-el-Fitr, a significant religious festival marking the end of Ramadan. The strategic deployment aims to mitigate common festive period challenges such as crowd management, traffic congestion, and potential security breaches, ensuring that celebrations proceed without incident across Delta State.
