Operatives of the Katsina State Police Command repelled a terrorist attack in the early hours of Wednesday at the Jabiri area in Funtua Local Government Area. The police killed one attacker, arrested another, and recovered an AK‑47 rifle. The command’s spokesman, Gambo Isah, confirmed the incident this evening.
According to Isah, the police received a distress call around 1 a.m. reporting that a large number of terrorists had attacked a household and were shooting indiscriminately. The district police officer for the area led a team that engaged the assailants, resulting in the death of one terrorist.
Isah disclosed that, due to superior firepower, the team successfully repelled the attack, neutralized one terrorist, and arrested Jamilu Ahmed, 25, of Rugar Sarkin Baka, Goya Village, Funtua LGA. The police also recovered an AK‑47 rifle. During the investigation, the suspect confessed to the offence and admitted involvement in several banditry incidents in Tatari, Abasawa, Majewa, and Bageri villages, which included armed robbery and kidnappings. He also confessed to having shot and killed two of his victims. The investigation is ongoing.
