The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has opened the nomination process for its internal party elections, announcing the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for ward, local government, state congresses, and the national convention.
In a public notice signed by National Organizing Secretary Chinedu Idigo, the party invited interested members to obtain forms for elective positions across its structure. The notice detailed a tiered fee schedule: the Expression of Interest Form costs a flat fee of ₦2,000. Nomination fees vary significantly by position and governmental level.
For ward-level contests, chairmanship forms are ₦10,000, secretary positions ₦5,000, and other offices ₦3,000 each. At the local government level, chairman aspirants pay ₦40,000, secretaries ₦30,000, and other officials ₦10,000. State-level nominations are substantially higher, with a chairmanship form priced at ₦500,000, secretary at ₦300,000, and other offices at ₦50,000. For the national convention, each delegate aspirant must pay ₦10,000, with one delegate slot allocated per local government area.
Additionally, all aspirants must secure a specified number of nominators, each of whom pays a non-refundable ₦500 fee. The required number of nominators ranges from five for some ward offices to 50 for the state chairmanship, with certain positions also requiring nominators from specific geographical zones.
The party emphasized that all payments—including for forms, nominators, and any outstanding membership dues—must be made via bank transfer to its designated account. Proof of payment is mandatory for form collection, which is available at the national secretariat or through state office representatives.
The notice fixed March 27, 2026, as the absolute deadline for the sale and submission of all forms, stating that late submissions will not be considered. Aspirants who successfully submit forms will undergo screening between March 30 and March 31, 2026.
These internal primaries are a critical step for the ADC as it prepares for Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, shaping the party’s candidate slate for various public offices. The process underscores the financial and organizational requirements for seeking elective positions within one of the country’s registered political parties.
