IGP Deploys Newly Promoted AIGs, CPs to Strategic Positions

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, has ordered the immediate deployment of newly promoted senior officers to key commands, formations, and departments across the Nigeria Police Force (NPF). The move aims to bolster leadership and enhance operational efficiency nationwide.

According to a statement issued in Abuja by the Force Public Relations Officer, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Anthony Pascid, the posting targets strategic positions to improve service delivery. The IGP has directed the newly elevated Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and Commissioners of Police (CPs) to assume their duties promptly, bringing their experience to bear on the force’s priorities.

Among the deployed AIGs are Ado Emmanuel (Research and Planning, Force Headquarters, Abuja), Joseph Eribo (Department of Armament), and Miller Dantawaye (Department of Operations). Others include Henry Uche (Training and Development), Olanrewaju Ogunlowo (Police Accounts and Budget), and Dahiru Mohammed (Zone 15, Maiduguri). Additional appointments cover Zone 4, Makurdi (Dankombo Morris); Zone 14, Katsina (Bello Shehu); and key departments including Legal Services (Ibrahim Maikaba) and Community Policing (Ahmed Musa). Further AIGs posted include Olohundare Jimoh (Zone 2, Lagos), Simeon Akpanudom (FCID Annex, Lagos), and Haruna Olufemi (Special Protection Unit, Force Headquarters).

The newly deployed Commissioners of Police encompass a wide range of state commands and specialized units. Appointments include Haruna Yahaya (Jigawa), Betty Otimenyin (Welfare, Force Headquarters), and Olugbenga Abimbola (Oyo State). Others are Yemi Oyeniyi (Delta), Olubode Ojajuni (Ogun), and Michael Falade (Ekiti). The list extends to Yakubu Dankaro (Adamawa), Aina Adesola (Training Department, Force Headquarters), and Muhammed Ahmed (Federal Capital Territory). Additional CPs include Olatunji Fatai (Lagos State), Morkwap Dongshal (Taraba), and Ahmed Bello (Zamfara).

Further deployments span Sokoto (Hayatu Hassan), the NPF National Cybercrime Centre (Akan Ezima), Special Protection Unit (Abbas Sule), INTERPOL (Ajo Ordue), and the Deputy Commandant at the Police Academy (POLAC) (Mnwadiogbu Cletus). CPs have also been assigned to the FCID Annex in Kaduna (Danjuma Yahaya) and Lagos (Sheik Danko), the SWAT unit in Abuja (Moses Otta), the Eastern Ports Authority (Abdulrahim Shuaibu), Administration at FCID (Sarah Ehindero), Provost (Edwin Ogbegbghagha), and several others covering INEC, community policing, and regional investigation units.

The IGP has charged all senior officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and service. He emphasized the need for them to leverage their expertise to drive the force’s ongoing efforts to improve security and public trust. These appointments reflect a broader strategy to inject fresh leadership into both operational and administrative arms of the NPF, signaling a continued focus on reorganizing the force to meet contemporary security challenges.
