Wike Hosts Rivers APC After Giadom’s South-South Reelection

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, convened a meeting with key figures from the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at his official residence in Abuja on Thursday.

The delegation included the freshly re-elected APC National Vice Chairman for the South-South zone, Victor Giadom, along with senators, members of the House of Representatives, and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly. Several other prominent Rivers State APC leaders were also present, underscoring the high-level nature of the discussion.

This gathering occurs against the backdrop of the APC’s South-South Zonal Congress, held the previous Wednesday in Asaba, Delta State. At that congress, Giadom secured another term as National Vice Chairman (South-South), and Samuel Nwanosike was elected as the new South-South Zonal Publicity Secretary.

The meeting, hosted by Wike—a former two-term governor of Rivers State—signals a continued engagement between the influential minister and the APC leadership from his home state. While the specific agenda was not disclosed, such forums typically focus on party cohesion, strategy, and political developments within the region.

Wike’s position as FCT Minister and his enduring political clout in Rivers State make his interactions with state-level APC figures a subject of interest for observers tracking Nigeria’s political landscape. The recent zonal congress outcomes, affirmed by this meeting, indicate a consolidation of the existing leadership structure in the South-South for the party.

The significance of the discussion lies in its potential to align strategies between Rivers State APC representatives and a key federal government figure. This alignment may influence the party’s posture in the state ahead of future electoral cycles. Further actions and statements from both the minister and the Rivers State APC will clarify the practical outcomes of this high-profile convening.
