A prominent member of Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Gbolahan Yusuf, expressed confidence that the party will secure President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re‑election in 2027. He made the statement during the launch of the Presidential Coalition Committee and political sensitisation programme in Ibadan, Oyo State, an event organised by party chieftain Hon. Ayotunde Nurudeen Bakare. The gathering, attended by APC leaders from various states and members of the Oyo State House of Assembly, aimed to rally support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Yusuf emphasized that no opposition party currently has the capacity to defeat the APC, citing the party’s strength and popularity. He acknowledged that the reforms implemented by President Tinubu have caused temporary discomfort but argued they are necessary for rebuilding the economy. Yusuf urged Nigerians to be patient, insisting that the current challenges are part of a rebuilding process that will ultimately lead to prosperity. He called on party members to remain supportive, asserting that the APC is the only party capable of delivering positive change.
Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, a member of the House of Representatives, represented by Hon. Abiodun Mafe, advised Nigerians to safeguard their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) against theft and other malicious activities. Faleke stressed the importance of PVCs for exercising the right to vote in the 2027 elections and encouraged those who have not yet registered to obtain their PVCs within the designated timeframe.
The APC’s confidence in its ability to secure re‑election in 2027 rests on its perceived strength and the popularity of President Tinubu. As the party continues to mobilise support, observers will watch how the opposition responds to these claims. With the 2027 general elections approaching, the APC’s strategy will be closely scrutinised, and its ability to maintain dominance will depend on addressing the country’s challenges and delivering on its promises.
