AA Ebonyi Elects Ozuma as Strategic Chairman for 2027

Ozuma Peter Ozuma has been elected state chairman of the Action Alliance (AA) in Ebonyi State following a congress described as peaceful and well-coordinated. The exercise, held in Abakaliki, also produced a 23-member State Executive Committee.

The electoral process received positive assessments from stakeholders and observers. Alexander Friday Eze, chairman of the electoral committee, declared the congress transparent, free, fair, and devoid of irregularities. He urged the new leadership to align with the party’s ideology of social justice and mass-oriented development, appealing to aggrieved members to unite for party cohesion.

In his acceptance speech, Ozuma thanked party members for the mandate, calling it a “call to higher service.” He projected an ambitious target for the 2027 general elections, stating the AA is strategically positioned to secure up to 85 percent of votes across state legislative and federal offices, with a significant impact aimed at the governorship contest.

Ozuma emphasized the party’s focus on people-centric policies and grassroots inclusion. He disclosed that preparations for forthcoming local government elections involve intensified consultations, with the party confident of contesting in at least 75 percent of available positions. He positioned AA as a credible alternative to the current national administration, which he said has led to “widespread disappointment,” while acknowledging state-level efforts under Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru. He credited national leader Rufai Adekunle Omaje with providing strategic stability.

The congress, monitored by INEC and security agencies at the People’s Club Resort, resulted in an executive committee with representation across all 13 local government areas. Comrade John Ugbo was elected state secretary. Observers, including party member Louis Onuora, corroborated accounts of a peaceful and orderly exercise. The leadership’s immediate task involves mobilising for the local polls while advancing its long-term governance agenda in Ebonyi State.
