Northern States Governors Mourn Kebbi Speaker Muhammad Usman Zuru

The Northern States Governors’ Forum has expressed profound grief over the passing of Muhammad Usman Zuru, Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, who died on Monday night in Egypt.

In a condolence message, the Forum’s Chairman and Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, described the loss as deeply painful and significant, not only for Kebbi State but for the entire northern region and Nigeria’s democratic community. The statement, issued by his Director-General of Press Affairs, Ismaila Uba Misilli, highlighted Zuru’s distinguished leadership and notable contributions to governance.

Governor Yahaya characterised the late Speaker as an accomplished lawmaker, a stabilising force in governance, and a patriotic leader who served with exceptional commitment, wisdom, and humility. He emphasised that Zuru’s legacy would endure through his dedication to democratic development and service to the people.

“Rt. Hon. Zuru distinguished himself through selfless service, dedication to democratic ideals, and unwavering loyalty to the progress and development of Kebbi State,” Yahaya stated.

The governor extended condolences to Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris, the deceased’s family, members of the state assembly, and the Zuru Emirate Council. He also offered prayers for the repose of the late Speaker’s soul, asking Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.

The death of Speaker Zuru represents a significant loss to Nigeria’s legislative landscape, particularly in the northern region where his leadership and democratic contributions were widely recognised. His passing leaves a void in Kebbi State’s political sphere and among Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
