The Kebbi State Government has announced the successful rescue of Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Alhaji Samaila Muhammad‑Bagudu, from captivity. According to Secretary to the State Government Alhaji Yakubu Tafida, the lawmaker was freed after several days in captivity through a joint operation by security forces. A combined team of agencies worked tirelessly to ensure his safe release, and Tafida confirmed that Muhammad‑Bagudu is in good health, high spirits, and receiving all necessary support and care.
Muhammad‑Bagudu was kidnapped on 1 November from his hometown in Bagudo Local Government Area, shortly after observing his evening prayers. The abduction raised concerns about the growing insecurity in the region, particularly the menace of banditry.
