Blessing CEO, IVD deactivate social media accounts amid cancer controversy

Self-styled Nigerian relationship expert Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, and her partner Ikechukwu Ogbonna, better known as IVD, a Lagos-based celebrity auto dealer, have deactivated their Instagram accounts amid mounting controversy over her alleged cancer diagnosis.

The controversy erupted after Blessing CEO announced she had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and launched an online fundraising campaign to cover treatment costs. Shortly after, she faced widespread accusations of fabricating the diagnosis, with critics alleging she had edited another patient’s medical report to support her claims.

In a subsequent interview, Blessing CEO walked back her initial statement, saying, “I don’t have stage 4 cancer. That was a miscommunication.” The reversal triggered further backlash, with many social media users demanding she return donations received under false pretenses.

Checks by Media Talk Africa on Sunday evening confirmed that both Blessing CEO and IVD have deactivated their Instagram pages, fueling speculation about the couple’s next steps as public pressure intensifies. The incident has sparked broader debate about the ethics of online fundraising and the responsibilities of influencers in verifying and communicating personal health claims.
