Paul Scholes names PSG best team in the world ahead of Liverpool clash

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has described Paris Saint-Germain as “probably the best team in the world” ahead of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final against Liverpool.

Speaking on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast, Scholes praised the French champions as an “unbelievable” side and backed them to progress past Liverpool in the last eight. “PSG are unbelievable. I still expect them to go through [against Liverpool], but it wouldn’t shock me if Liverpool won. It could happen—I just don’t see it right now,” he said.

The former England international added, “Right now, PSG are probably the best team in the world.” His comments come as the Parisians, who lifted the Champions League trophy in 2025, prepare for a high-profile European clash.

Despite Scholes’ endorsement, PSG head coach Luis Enrique has played down suggestions of favoritism, insisting there is no clear front-runner at this stage of the competition. The tie is set to be a major test of PSG’s credentials as they aim to maintain their status among Europe’s elite.

The match will be closely watched, with PSG’s blend of attacking firepower and tactical discipline under Enrique making them one of the most formidable sides in world football.
