Benue Family Seeks Help After Lagos-Based Man Vanishes En Route Home
The family of Imoter Barnabas Terkaa, a Lagos-based worker at Jason’s Lounge on Kajola Road, Ogba, has raised the alarm over his sudden disappearance. Terkaa reportedly embarked on a journey from Lagos to Benue State but lost contact with his wife while travelling between Otukpa and Otukpo Local Government Areas.
According to family sources, communication with Terkaa ceased abruptly during the trip. The following day, his wife received a phone call from unknown individuals claiming to be holding him and demanding a ransom of N30 million for his release. Since that initial contact, the suspected kidnappers have not made further calls or remained reachable, heightening fears for his safety.
The family, represented by the Mdzough u Tiv (MUT) Lagos State Chapter, says they lack key details such as the transport company or motor park Terkaa used, which has hampered efforts to trace his movements. They are also uncertain whether the alleged kidnapping has been officially reported in either Lagos or Benue State.
“We are appealing to the public for any useful information that can assist in locating him,” a statement from the group read. “Any clue, no matter how small, could help in advancing the search and ensuring his safe return.”
Authorities have yet to confirm the incident. Attempts to reach the Benue State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Udeme Edet, for comment were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
The case has drawn attention amid rising concerns over kidnappings in parts of Nigeria, particularly along major travel routes. The family has urged anyone with relevant information to come forward as search efforts intensify.
For now, Terkaa’s whereabouts remain unknown, and his family continues to appeal for public assistance in securing his safe return.
