YEDC Warns of Power Outages in Adamawa, Taraba, Yobe During TCN Maintenance

Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) has announced that contractors from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) will carry out maintenance work along the 276-kilometre power line route as part of upgrade efforts. The planned outage will affect the Jos–Bauchi–Gombe 330kV transmission line from April 9 to May 22, 2026.

In a statement issued in Yola, Adamawa State, YEDC confirmed that customers in Adamawa, Taraba, and Yobe States may experience daytime power outages for at least four days each week during the maintenance period, specifically between 09:00 and 18:00 hours. The company urged customers to remain vigilant and safeguard transformers and other electrical assets within their communities to prevent vandalism.

The planned power disruptions come at a particularly challenging time for residents of Yola, who are currently enduring high temperatures. March to May is typically the hottest period in the city, with residents facing intense sunlight and stifling heat. The lack of air conditioning and refrigeration during the outages is expected to exacerbate discomfort, particularly as many rely on cooling appliances for relief and access to cool drinking water.

YEDC expressed appreciation for customers’ patience and understanding during the maintenance period, emphasising that the work is essential to improve the reliability and efficiency of the power supply in the long term. The company reiterated its commitment to minimising the impact of the outages and restoring normal service as swiftly as possible.
