A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, Joe Igbokwe, has labeled Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, a terrorist. Igbokwe accused Kanu of ordering the Eastern Security Network, IPOB’s militia wing, to carry out killings in the Southeast.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, Igbokwe wrote, “The terrorist, Nnamdi Kanu, gave IPOB/ESN orders to kill people. For that reason, he is my eternal enemy.” He claimed that Kanu had instructed IPOB/ESN to target anyone in uniform, including police and military personnel. According to Igbokwe, these orders led to the deaths of some of his relatives and friends.
He questioned the morality of such actions, pointing out that Kanu’s own sister, who was also in uniform, was not targeted. “Assuming without conceding that such evil and dastardly order was proper and moral, his own sister who was also in uniform was not killed by his IPOB/ESN,” Igbokwe stated. He further declared his unwavering opposition to Kanu, saying, “If your answer is ‘yes,’ then you are a killer, barbarian, and possibly one of those sub-humans he raised to cannibalize their victims.”
Igbokwe vowed to use all means necessary to ensure Kanu spends the remainder of his life in confinement. The accusations highlight the ongoing tensions surrounding IPOB and its activities in the Southeast, with critics accusing the group of violence and intimidation. The Nigerian government has designated IPOB as a terrorist organization, a move that has sparked debate and controversy both domestically and internationally.
