The National Rescue Movement (NRM) — Ebonyi State Chapter — announced on Thursday that it has merged its political structure with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the state’s governorship election on 18 March 2023. In a communique signed by the chapter’s Chairman, Hon. Stanley Ogodo, and Secretary, Pastor Ifeanyi Mbam, the NRM declared its unanimous endorsement of the PDP’s governorship candidate, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, after consulting with stakeholders. The statement praised Odii as “competent, credible, reliable and compassionate,” asserting that his election would make Ebonyi “better again.” It also noted that all NRM State House of Assembly candidates support his candidacy and urged members, supporters, and the people of Ebonyi to vote for Dr. Odii on 18 March 2023.
During the reception of NRM members and leaders, Austin Edeze, the Ebonyi Director General of the PDP Campaign Council, explained that Odii’s vision to rescue the state from political degradation, poverty, and subjugation made him the appropriate candidate. Edeze said the PDP intends to form a unitary government that will benefit everyone in the state, including NRM members and leaders. He called on NRM supporters to work hard for the party during the elections, emphasizing the PDP’s determination to secure victory at the polls.
