Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke announced on Thursday that his administration has released more than N1.528 billion for bond certificates covering 273 primary‑school teachers and local‑ and state‑government contributory pensioners. Speaking at an event in Osogbo where the beneficiaries received their certificates, Adeleke also disclosed that N350 million has been released as gratuities to retired staff of local governments, primary schools, secondary schools, tertiary institutions, civil servants and parastatal employees.

The governor emphasized that, since taking office, his priority has been to resolve outstanding workers‑related debts. “Workers, in and out of service, deserve their due emoluments,” he said, adding that he has addressed the issue of half‑salary payments. “We are paying it and we will clear all outstanding amounts based on our people‑oriented template.”

Adeleke provided a breakdown of the beneficiaries: 119 retirees from the civil service, parastatals and tertiary institutions will receive bond certificates totaling N632,952,655.56; 62 retirees from local‑government service will receive certificates worth N205,428,602.07; and 92 primary‑school retirees will receive certificates amounting to N621,819,731.03. In total, the government has released N1.528 billion for bond certificates for retired workers of both state and local governments, alongside N350 million in gratuities for retired staff across various sectors.

He reaffirmed his commitment to meeting the aspirations of the people of Osun, stating that his task is to make them happy and to uphold good governance.
