Tugay Kerimoğlu Warns Galatasaray to Play Without Osimhen

Former Galatasaray midfielder Tugay Kerimoğlu has cautioned the club over their reliance on striker Victor Osimhen, urging them to adapt their tactics in his absence.

Osimhen is currently sidelined with a hand injury sustained during a UEFA Champions League match against Liverpool. His absence was evident in Galatasaray’s recent 1-1 draw with Kocaelispor, a result that saw the team drop two points in the Turkish Super Lig standings. Despite this setback, Galatasaray maintains a narrow two-point lead over second-placed Fenerbahçe at the top of the league table.

Kerimoğlu, speaking to Habersarikirmizi, emphasized the need for Galatasaray to rediscover the form of other attacking options, particularly Mauro Icardi. “As of today, there’s clearly an issue with Icardi. Could there be a better time to win Icardi back? You can start with Icardi at home,” he suggested.

The former Turkey international also warned against over-dependence on a single player. “I don’t think it’s right to forget about the other players because of one player. When Osimhen leaves, do you have a chance to find another Osimhen? You have to play the games without Osimhen,” Kerimoğlu stated.

He further highlighted that opponents have identified weaknesses in Galatasaray’s setup. “I think opponents know Galatasaray’s weaknesses. They have learned that their midfield is their heart. They have figured out where to press, how to direct the play, and where to deliver the ball.”

Kerimoğlu’s comments come at a crucial time for Galatasaray, as they aim to maintain their lead in the league while managing the absence of their star forward. The club will need to demonstrate tactical flexibility and squad depth to navigate this challenging period and sustain their title challenge.
