Ondo State’s immediate past Secretary to the State Government, Dr Taiwo Fasoranti, has expressed strong support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration, describing the president’s assumption of office as occurring at a critical juncture in Nigeria’s history. Speaking in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Akure, Fasoranti highlighted visible improvements under Tinubu’s leadership, including a stabilising economy reflected in the declining dollar-to-naira exchange rate and renewed efforts to address national security challenges.
Fasoranti, son of Afenifere national leader Pa Reuben Fasoranti, praised the president’s Renewed Hope Agenda, asserting that the reforms introduced so far have yielded positive results. He emphasised the importance of sustaining these initiatives to strengthen Nigeria’s democracy and expressed confidence in Tinubu’s performance, predicting a decisive victory in the 2027 general elections.
In addition to his political commentary, Fasoranti announced his intention to contest the Ondo Central Senatorial District seat in 2027. He cited a strong desire to provide quality representation and purposeful leadership to his constituents, drawing on his experience as a physician who worked at the presidential villa for 15 years. Fasoranti also underscored his grounding in Afenifere’s Omoluabi ethos, pledging accountability to the people.
He expressed optimism about attracting more federal presence to Ondo State under Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s administration, which he described as steering the state on a steady path. Fasoranti, who resigned as SSG on April 3, 2024, to pursue his senatorial ambition, said his network of allies and extensive experience would be assets in delivering development to the district.
