Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, the immediate past Secretary to the State Government of Ondo State, has voiced strong support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration, emphasizing that the president’s assumption of office comes at a crucial moment in Nigeria’s history. In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Akure, Fasoranti pointed out the visible improvements under Tinubu’s leadership, particularly noting the stabilizing economy, as evidenced by the declining dollar-to-naira exchange rate, and renewed efforts to tackle national security challenges.
Fasoranti, who is the son of Afenifere national leader Pa Reuben Fasoranti, praised the president’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He asserted that the reforms implemented thus far have produced positive outcomes. He stressed the importance of sustaining these initiatives to bolster Nigeria’s democracy and expressed confidence in Tinubu’s capabilities, predicting a decisive victory for the president in the 2027 general elections.
In addition to his political insights, Fasoranti announced his intention to contest for the Ondo Central Senatorial District seat in 2027. He articulated a strong desire to provide quality representation and purposeful leadership to his constituents, drawing on his extensive experience as a physician who served at the presidential villa for 15 years. Fasoranti also highlighted his grounding in Afenifere’s Omoluabi ethos, pledging accountability to the people.
Furthermore, he expressed optimism about enhancing federal presence in Ondo State under the administration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, whom he described as steering the state on a steady path. Having resigned as Secretary to the State Government on April 3, 2024, to pursue his senatorial ambition, Fasoranti believes that his network of allies and extensive experience will be valuable assets in delivering development to the district.
